Koh Samui is a dream destination for anyone seeking a perfect blend of sunshine, great food, and peaceful relaxation. For my recent getaway, I stayed at Explorar Koh Samui, an adults-only resort that turned out to be the ideal choice for unwinding in style.

A Tranquil Location with Convenient Access
Nestled by Mae Nam Beach in the island’s quieter northern region, Explorar Koh Samui is the perfect escape for those looking to relax. While the resort offers a serene environment, it’s easy to reach the island’s bustling spots like Fisherman’s Village or Chaweng Beach thanks to their complimentary shuttle service.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with refreshing hospitality. After a warm welcome at reception, we were offered a chilled towel and a glass of coconut water mixed with local rum—an unexpected and delightful touch that set the tone for the stay.
Our Private Garden Pool Villa
For our stay, we were upgraded to the Garden Pool Villa, and it did not disappoint. At 64 square meters, the villa offered plenty of space, with a 20-square-meter private pool just outside. The room itself was well-appointed with a plush bed, a TV for some downtime, a desk for any work we needed to do, and a luxurious bathroom complete with two showers. The private pool area, complete with bean bag chairs, was the highlight of the villa—a perfect spot for lounging and taking in the surroundings.
Explorar Koh Samui offers a variety of accommodations, including 125 rooms, suites with ocean views, and beach villas, so there’s no shortage of choices for every type of traveler.
The Infinity Pool Experience
While our villa was incredible, we couldn’t resist spending time at the resort’s stunning infinity pool. Arguably one of the best pools on the island, it offered not only beautiful views but also the perfect place to relax. The swim-up bar made it easy to grab drinks while enjoying the view, and lounging on the comfortable chairs or bean bags was the ultimate way to unwind by the water. Whether you’re looking to swim, enjoy a drink, or just bask in the sun, the pool area is an inviting retreat.
Dining at Odyssey Restaurant
The resort’s restaurant, Odyssey, offers a wonderful fusion of Mediterranean and Thai flavors. While it’s the only dining option on-site, the diverse menu ensures you won’t get bored. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it featured a wide variety of Western and Asian dishes. We also enjoyed delicious lunches and dinners on the beach, where the gentle sound of the waves added to the atmosphere.
Explorar goes above and beyond by offering unique experiences like Thai cooking classes, cocktail lessons, and even a floating breakfast. We couldn’t resist trying the floating breakfast in our private pool—it was a fun and memorable experience, made even better by the addition of a big yellow duck!
Relaxation at the Exhale Spa and Gym
Explorar’s spa, Exhale Spa, was the perfect place to indulge in a bit of pampering. I had the chance to experience their signature oil massage, which was nothing short of incredible. The spa’s tranquil environment and top-tier service made it an experience I won’t forget.
If you’re into fitness, the resort also has a fully-equipped gym. On top of that, yoga classes are available on select days, allowing you to incorporate some zen into your stay.
Work and Play at The Exchange
For digital nomads or those who need to catch up on work during their vacation, Explorar Koh Samui is working on a co-working space called The Exchange. While it was still under construction during my visit, it’s expected to be an excellent addition to the resort. If you’re interested, keep an eye on Explorar’s website for updates.
