If you’re looking to fill your kitchen with flavors that support your health while satisfying your taste buds, here are three recipes worth trying.

Classic Homemade Chicken Broth

Few things feel more restorative than a steaming bowl of homemade chicken broth. Beyond being a versatile base for soups, stews, and grains, it’s also packed with nutrients that strengthen the immune system and promote overall wellness. Amino acids in the broth help calm inflammation, while minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus contribute to healthy bones and cellular function. Whether enjoyed as a simple cup on a cold afternoon or used as the foundation of a hearty recipe, this broth is a winter essential.

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken carcass (cooked or raw)
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, lightly crushed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
  • Water to cover
  • Salt, optional

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a large stockpot and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently for 2–4 hours, skimming away foam as needed.
  3. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve and discard the solids. Add salt if desired.

Golden Turmeric Latte

Known as “golden milk,” this spiced drink is as comforting as it is nourishing. Turmeric provides powerful anti-inflammatory support, while cinnamon and ginger add warmth and digestive benefits. Black pepper enhances turmeric’s absorption, and a touch of honey or maple syrup creates just the right sweetness. Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk of choice (almond, coconut, or dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Warm the milk in a small pot over medium-low heat until it begins to steam.

  3. Simmer for 5–7 minutes on low, whisking occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat, stir in honey or maple syrup, and serve hot.

Green Vegetable Soup

This blended green soup is a vibrant way to pack in nutrients while staying warm and satisfied. Leafy greens like kale and spinach provide antioxidants and vitamins A and C, while zucchini adds an extra boost of vitamin C. Garlic and onion bring both flavor and natural immune-supporting properties. Finished with fresh herbs, this soup is as nourishing as it is comforting.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 medium zucchinis, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped kale
  • 2 cups chopped spinach
  • 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot and sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Add zucchini, kale, spinach, broth, and thyme. Bring to a boil, then simmer until vegetables are tender.
  3. Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.
  4. Season with salt and pepper and finish with fresh herbs before serving.
